Negative Lighting

I have so many mason jars I figured it was time to find another use for them.  I have seen people putting plain old white lights in bowls, vases and jars all over the place and went for it.  I thought it looked a little plain so I added some negative strips (anyone else still have those?)  to the jar with tape and a pine cone (which i got a whole bag for 75cents!)  for a topper.  I think it looks sah-weet but always look forward to your opinion...

I love these Flowers

I know everyone knows how to make these (if not, all you do is attach strips of toilet paper roll together)but I just LOVE them. I rolled some paper to make "beads" and I think they look adorable.

*handmade*Teacher Gift Idea

Photobucket

We grabbed a couple cans and scrubbed them out. I painted them and then added strips of fabric to the top. I wrapped them in twine to secure them together and added a few buttons and letters...

Canned Snowman

Photobucket
All I did for this one was use two small empty cans, I used olives and mushrooms (was making homemade pizza), I glued 2 small chipboard circles on the bottom can & drew in the button pattern. I made a cone shape from some lightweight cardboard and painted it orange. I topped it off with a canning jar lid and thought it looked simple & adorable. Sometimes less is more. What do you think?

A Penny For Your Thoughts-I need help!!!

PhotobucketHey everyone! I am so excited that I finally got some followers! Woohoo!
Anyway, I have been contemplating this for a while thinking it may seem cheesy but oh well! My idea is this can full of questions...Im talkin crazy random questions meant to inspire and spark conversation.  I don't know about you but I get caught up in everyday life and don't spend a whole lot of time just talking to my hubby about stuff like this.  I remember when we first started dating we would have these long conversations about every and anything so I guess I am just trying to bring that back to our relationship.  I am making this for him with all intentions of reading off one each day of the year to open our lines of communication back up and keep things interesting. Thats where you come in too!! I need some more crazy random questions to add so PLEASE HELP! I have about 150 so far which I have taken the time to handwrite I must say! LOL...I figured it would be more personal that way. I also figured I can just keep adding to the stash as we discuss them. Some of the questions I have added are...
If you could be trapped in a TV show for a month, which would you choose?
If you could choose the how you died...would you? If so, what would you choose?
What is your idea of Heaven?
If you joined the circus, what act would you like to perform?
What's something you still want to learn?
Who do you respect most?
What are your 3 wishes?
Whats the best gift you ever gave?
3 things that scare you?

Ok ok...you get the point.  Some things I think I already know but it wont hurt to revisit the subject. LOL. I got regular plain white paper and brushed coffee over it to stain.  I hot glued this fabric over an old grits cannister...LOL...and then I made a tag from a toilet paper tube and a penny. Hence Penny For your Thoughts...lol...Im so clever! I really do need some more questions and am really curious to hear what everyone thinks! Also do you think I should write out "a penny for your thoughts"???

A Place for Art

Photobucket
As I was working on that star today Olivia, my 4yr old, attempted to make her own and was using the scrap paper to draw on and glue together.  She is definitely a crafty one.  Anyway, I saw this idea on a few other blogs and decided to give it a whirl.

8 Point Star From Magazine

Have you ever noticed how pretty the pages are in some of the magazine we buy?  Well I have opened my eyes up recently to the world of crafting and recycling and thought they would make a cute...something. LOL. After searching the web and all these fabulous blogs I came up with this....I got the original tutorial at http://www.craftideas.info/html/tutorial_origami_star_b.html

Fabulous Up-cycled Mail Holder

I am so super excited to show off these bad boys!! I was looking around on the web for up-cycled or recycled craft ideas because HI! IM BROKE! LOL...anyway I saw people making all these cute magazine racks and file holders and so on and so on out of random boxes they already had.  Well guess what? I can afford that!  So I have nowhere "officially" to put our mail and thought I could just make one, right?  Well...this is what I did today along with the usual cleaning, cooking, kids and cleaning. (yea i said that twice)

I got some boxes right from my cupboard and went to work.  It's really funny whenever I start one of my projects because the kids always ask right away what I'm doing and I know they think I'm nuts, lol.  My 3yr old thinks I can make anything, I mean ANYTHING.  He will ask me to make him a train out of paper...yeaaaaa...I'm not THAT good. LOL.  I am using Photobucket this time so I can just show you in collage form my tutorial.

Foam Tube Candy Cane

I started out with a foam tube that i found in the basement...lol. We just moved into our new house a few months ago and the previous owners had a ton of junk in the basement or I should say undiscovered treasures :) I think it's meant for packaging? Anyway, as soon as I saw it I got an idea :) So next I spray painted it red...along with some other stuff I'm working on and then painted white strips on with crafting paint. I used crafting wire to bend it...not so much fun...then I tied a ribbon to hang and taa daaa....a hanging foam candy cane. Let me know what you think.
