Copy Me! Challenge

I put together a few pieces for Funky Junk Interior's latest Copy Me!  Challenge.  I used Allen wrenches to spell out Junk and secured them on to my rack that once belonged to a storage shelf unit thingy. The rest of it speaks for itself. I also have used a baby gate that my kids TORE up...thinking along the Funky Junk state of mind....to display my preschoolers alphabet for her practicing pleasure (I crack myself up)  And yes that IS paintchips being put to use....ah the endless possibilities.  Oh and let's not forget my son's old belt to hang the contraption up :)  Well what do YOU think?

It's a Good Life

What do you get with a wire hanger and a 2x4x4??  A fabulous little block that holds your pictures ofcourse!  I posted a few projects using these blocks because when I got them I got about 20!  So here are a couple more block projects I have completed.

 I first spray painted the blocks champagne and then simply Mod Podged the front of the block and added my pre-cut paper.  I also sanded the edged to get the aged look. I used my drill to add a hole for the hanger on the top of the block and I used wire cutters to cut a hanger down to 4 in pieces and twisted with some needle nose pliers.  Did I ever tell you I cannot stand wire hangers?? Yup.  Another Mommy Dearest over here! LOL....not really but still :)  I made a total of 3 blocks with the center one saying, "Life is Good".

The other little project is my LUCK blocks.  I don't have a vinyl cutter so I am left coming up with ways to spell out words in my crafts.  The best solution I have found is Chipboard letters.  They may not be the color you want them to be but a little paint does a project good!  The cool part about these letters is they come in a little square that you push them out of which can also be used. It also gives your project a 3-D  feel to it.  Well I can just show you...

Now does it make sense? LOL. For this project I painted the letters white. With these blocks I pre-treated the wood with a light stain and acrylic sealer and then after many many many hours of drying I used paint chips (yes folks....again) on the letters L and C as the background.  Then Mod Podged the scrap paper for the U and K.  A little sanding here and there and there you have it!  

  A little bow on top and we have LUCK blocks!  Now on to your opinion....

U and I

I had some puzzle shaped frames from the Dollar Store just begging for a makeover today ;)  I started off by first spray painting them this awesome Metallic Champagne...

They were originally these dull black and white colors

I then added some ribbon I got from WalMart for a $1 and added my classic paintchip for a background.  The color is Antique Leather from Behr.  

I saw this awesome display over at Craft-O-Maniac and thought using the "U & I" phrase would be perfect for this.  I then painted my little U and I Wicker White and glued them to the paint chip.

I thought they still needed something so I made a bow with the ribbon by cutting it half the width and gluing a button for a center.  Simple makeover with big results :)

Handmade Birthday Decorations Part 2

A few more decorations for my daughters birthday...and she helped!  We made our own piñata out of a gift bag, crepe paper and a giant coloring book picture!  I glued on the crepe paper and cut out Dora from the front of that giant coloring book.  She LoveS it!!  I also used tissue paper to make the pom-pom and Birthday flower to hang.  Then last but not least I used paint chips (my all time love) to make the linked banner!  We had so much fun doing this and best of all this cost me nothing but time well spent with my soon to be 5 year old. :)
